Joy, Comfort and Protection Come From The LORD

Joy, Comfort and Protection Come From The Lord

In this day of frustration (annoyance or anger) and confusion (uncertainties), it is reassuring to know that joy, comfort and protection come from the Lord.

1) Frustration: or annoyance or anger
[frustration]= a feeling of anger or annoyance caused by being unable to do something

The anger of man will cause one to make foolish decisions
Pro 14:17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
Ecc 7:9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

When the anger of man is held in check, good decisions will be made
Jas 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
Pro 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
Patience strengthens the spirit, sweetens the temper, stifles anger, subdues pride, and bridles the tongue.
Excercising patience will bring better results in making decisions on handling matters of importance

2) Confusion=Uncertainties
[Uncertainties]= something that is doubtful or unknown : something that is uncertain
Seven things that are Uncertain
Uncertainty in Beauty
[Beauty]= the qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit
Psa 39:11 When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.
Pro 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Uncertainty in Men’s Promises
Psa 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
Remember this, that promises are only as dependable as the individuals who make them

Uncertainty in Riches
Pro 23:5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
There’s nothing wrong with men possessing riches. The wrong comes when riches possess the man

Uncertainty in the Future
Pro 27:1 Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

Uncertainty in Friendship
Joh 16:32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

Uncertainty in Life
Jas 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Uncertainty in Earthly Glory
1Pe 1:24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

3) Joy
[Joy]= the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires :  delight

Christ’s Joy Abides in us
Joh 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Christ’s Joy is Bestowed through HIS words
Joh 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
[Bestowed]= to give (something) as a gift or honor

Great Joy
I want to give you some examples found in the Bible of great joy

There was Great Joy in the Coming of Christ
Mat 2:10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
Mat 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

There was Great Joy in the Resurection of Christ
Mat 28:8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

There was Great Joy in the Ascension of Christ
Luk 24:52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
There was Great Joy in the Conversion of the Gentiles
Act 15:3 And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

Joy is Promised to the believers
Psa 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Isa 35:10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Joy is restored at the Vision of the Risen Savior
Joh 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

Spiritual Joy

Special reasons for spiritual Joy

The Blessings of a Spiritual Life
Isa 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
[rejoice]=to feel joy or great delight

The delights of God’s Word
Jer 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
Here we find that we feel joy or great delight in GOD’s Word that we rejoice in His Word

4) Comfort
[Comfort]=a state or feeling of being less worried, upset, frightened, etc., during a time of trouble or emotional pain

God is the Giver of Comfort
2Co 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

Christ’s words are a source of comfort
Joh 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

5) Protection
[Protection]= something that keeps a person or thing from being harmed, lost, etc.

Divine Protection is Promised to the believers
Psa 34:7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Psa 125:2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.

The LORD is our Divine Protector

The LORD is our Divine Protector as a Defence
[Defense]=the act of defending someone or something from attack
Psa 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

The LORD is our Divine Protector as a Fortress
[Fortress]= a place that is protected against attack : a fortified place
Psa 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Nah 1:7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
[rock]=a strong hold—He has a strong hold on us to protect
[deliverer]=to carry away safe—He will bring us into a place of safety
[buckler]=a shield-or a protector

The LORD is our Divine Protector as a Hiding Place
[Hiding Place]= to conceal for shelter or protection
Psa 32:7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

The LORD is our Divine Protector as a Refuge
[Refuge]=a place that provides shelter or protection
Isa 25:4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

The LORD is our Divine Protector as a Shield
[Shield]= one that protects or defends
Pro 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

So in conclusion, in the midst of our frustration, our annoyance, our anger; or in the midst of our confusion, in the midst of our uncertainties;

we can know that:

In the LORD we have Joy

In the LORD we have Comfort

In the LORD we have Protection

As our Pastor tells us: above all else we’ve got to be saved! We’ve got to be born again!
